Triopetra Beach
The first beach, Little Triopetra (or Koumado), is nestled in a cove of sand and rocks south of the three enormous stones that lend the place its name. The sea is crystal clear. The beach facilities here are excellent, and you can rent a beach umbrella and sun lounger to fully enjoy the holiday atmosphere.
The main beach, Triopetra West (or Chatzi), lies west of the three stones, stretching several kilometers to Ligres Beach. Its rough golden sand is washed by a sea adorned with splendid natural colors. Its westward exposure makes it very windy, so it’s best avoided on rough sea days, especially with children.
Elafonissi Beach
Elafonisi Beach appears in commercial magazines every year due to its legendary beauty. And it’s no coincidence that it attracts so many tourists every year: the pink beaches of this beautiful place are made from the same stuff as paradise, we’re sure.
The pink sand beach, dotted with small rocks, is a welcome variation from the more angular beaches elsewhere in Crete. Apparently, this beautiful coloring is due to the composition of the sand itself: corals, shell fragments, and calcium structures that, after settling for a long time on the seabed, have arrived here to create a soft bed of powder. Even more surprising is that according to the tide movements, this coloring tends to vary, sometimes quite significantly.
